Software Design Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Description

As a Software Design Engineer in Test at Atlassian, you will join an engineering-led company and the award-winning leader in software development and collaboration tools with over 50,000 customers. We're looking for a results-driven Software Development Engineer in Test to develop automated tools and tests to build groundbreaking products. Working as part of a team of engineers, designers and product managers, you will be passionate about software quality by building automation frameworks for global consumer-facing web applications or platform services. These span the full stack including mobile, helping set the direction for how we continuously integrate, deploy, verify and improve the software quality of a wide range of products.

More about you

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Creative problem solving, strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

  • Be the customer advocate with meticulous attention to detail

  • Excellent coding skills in one or more programming languages e.g. Java, Javascript, etc.

  • Previous experience with crafting and developing automated tests for large-scale web applications and services

  • Real passion for breaking web applications, software and services

  • Test driven development practises utilising Junit, TestNG, mocha, Jasmine, etc.

  • Functional test automation utilising Selenium, CasperJS, etc.

  • Behaviour-driven development experience

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery tools

  • Experience with unit, integration, and functional testing

It's great, but not required, if you have:

  • Experience with mobile application and mobile web development test automation.

  • Background in full-stack development, SOA and micro-services architectures.

  • Understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed systems.

The Product Fabric team at Atlassian is responsible for all shared collaboration services across the Atlassian product suite. Their role is to empower customers to get work done regardless of product boundaries, provide Atlassian's collaboration fabric services (such as Mentions, Shares, Tasks...) to internal product teams and to enable our third-party developer ecosystem to extend the Atlassian collaboration fabric to solve specific business problems.

This is both a people management & technical management position where you will lead multiple teams of experienced, smart engineers based in Sydney. As part of the Cloud Platform leadership team, you will help define & shape our world class SaaS & cloud platform strategy. Delivering the present & the future. This is a newly built team with broad technical responsibilities across all our products with greenfield projects and technologies, not a product maintenance type of role. You will also collaborate with other teams across Atlassian, especially your peers in Sydney, South Bay and Austin, to exchange expertise as well as shared components.
