Senior iOS Developer
Atlassian helps teams everywhere change the world through the power of software and we are looking for a part visionary, part technical wizard. As a Senior iOS Developer you’ll be part of the technical authority on products that are revolutionising the software industry and helping teams collaborate and create that magic in delivering their best work. Think NASA launching the Rover on Mars or Cochlear gifting children born deaf with the ability to hear, your work directly impacts the products they use to advance humanity. The primary focus of your role will be to take ownership of the broad technical direction to ensure our products are evolving and sustainable for the long term.
Aside from strong technical prowess including hands on coding ability you will have deep understanding of architecture and an ability to foresee and plan for changes. You need to be able to translate your deep technical skills to influence other developers, product managers and senior managers to ensure the team understands the vision, is on-board with it, and is moving towards achieving the product’s ongoing goals. With the rapidly changing software industry, you’ll be constantly learning and improving your own skills and knowledge, which will ultimately help to grow our products and advance humanity through the power of software.
You’ll be joining a brand new, kick-arse team to start an iOS development practice right here in Sydney, with modern development tools. Your team will build high-quality, design-centric mobile applications to delight knowledge workers around the world.
More about you
This is a hands-on role, so we’d love to you have at least four years experience developing native iOS apps. You’ll have shipped at least three applications on the App Store (including links in your CV with your application). We’ll need you to be proficient with Objectice-C, with knowledge of the basic building blocks like UIKit, GCD, REST APIs, memory management etc. Experience with server side development or Swift will bump you up the queue. Sound enterprise application engineering experience; component frameworks, automated testing, concurrency and performance are big plusses. We’re engineering our apps for the long term, not just pushing it out as fast as we can.
You have an exceptional sense for design, an ability to see an app through conception, development, testing and release. Sound enterprise application architecture experience in design patterns, concurrency and performance would be awesome. You’re naturally curious and up-to-date with the latest trends in iOS development and you’ve worked in an Agile environment previously.
We set the bar high at Atlassian so in addition to the above we’d love to hear from someone with a strong understanding of SOA, API design, networking, internet topology and virtualization. It also helps to have strong skills in software construction and integration patterns. We will want you to have an understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, and scalable systems. Personality-wise, if you’re good with "fixing the plane while in flight" (not just greenfield solutions), you will be right for this role. You will have the ability to ask tough questions, have a principled but also pragmatic approach to decision-making, have stellar written and verbal communication abilities (that also means skilled interactions with developers and non-technical people alike), and experience as a public speaker. You’re also the type that loves to teach others and be hands on yourself. Finally you are an effective communicator, able to articulate your technical & architectural know-how in a way that will influence the engineering teams towards a united vision and goal, understanding that building incredible software cannot be done in isolation but together as one team.
