Senior Development Team Lead

Job Description

Is leadership in your DNA? Make your mark as a Team Lead for our developers who create features for our awesome software dev tools and next-generation products. You’ll ensure that commitments stay on track, remove any roadblocks, and facilitate timely decision-making. You’ll also help the team evaluate the size and shape of features and the impact of trade offs. This role meets with team members one-on-one to foster growth and help developers reach their goals. You’ll also collaborate with other teams across Atlassian to exchange expertise and ensure project coordination is handled smoothly.

Atlassian is able to provide relocation assistance and sponsorship to work in Sydney for this role.

We’d love for you to have a broad knowledge and understanding of the software development industry, with an excellent understanding of Java and architectural understanding of Java web applications and application servers. Working knowledge in back end technologies like Spring, Hibernate, Lucene, SQL or others is important too, along with familiarity with agile software development methodologies like XP and Scrum.

Your natural curiosity will translate into enthusiasm about learning new languages, frameworks and tools. A Team Lead is a natural born leader who has an innate desire to mentor developers and provide hands-on technical leadership to 6-8 person teams. You also probably have the project management chops to slice and dice problems that can be worked on by several people, track work status across teams with ease, and creatively solve problems when it’s needed most.

As a kick-ass Team Lead your array of weapons will include:

  • Broad understanding of all areas of software development in a Java environment

  • Strong experience growing and nurturing high performing, agile teams (4-6 person)

  • Architectural experience scaling out web applications

  • Experience in Cloud Architecture, or at least the burning desire to learn

  • Mentoring developers and encouraging them to flourish

  • Continuously shipping real value to the customer
