Principal Software Engineer, Data Platform

3+ months agoBengaluru, India
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

Are you passionate about data platforms and tools? Are you a forward-thinking, structured problem solver who is passionate about building systems at scale? Do you understand data tools, know how to use them, and want to help our users to make data actionable? If so, this role with our team at Atlassian is for you.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Data Platform Team and build a world-class data solution that powers crucial business decisions throughout the organization.

You will partner with teams at Atlassian across various initiatives, working with them to understand the gaps, bring your findings back to the team, and work on building these capabilities.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Excellent, in-depth command over SaaS and Cloud with extensive understanding of AWS and the building blocks within that platform
  • Experience building and running large-scale transactional or NoSQL datastores
  • Solid understanding of API design and data modeling fundamentals
  • Well aware of the nuances of secure cloud design across Infrastructure and Data
  • Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala etc.)
  • Engineering discipline to produce software with quality as part of a high trust team
  • Great communication to build and articulate a technical vision for the product and pitch it to critical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with enterprise practices like data sovereignty and data residency
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Familiarity with GraphQL
