Principal Security Engineer
Our security team is growing. Security Engineering is responsible for making sure Atlassian products and services are safe. We are looking for a great Security Engineer who loves finding vulnerabilities in proprietary and open source code. Your responsibilities will include source code auditing, web scanning, and using custom and commercial tools. Most of the code we look at is in Java, Scala, or Python. You’ll also be doing design reviews, code reviews and threat modeling, and collaborating closely with all engineering groups. Because Atlassian writes most of our own tools, the ability to code is crucial. As part of the focus on learning at Atlassian, you'll be able to spend up to 20% of your time on independent research.
More about you
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- Solid understanding of application security, especially web applications
- Experience coding in Java or Python
- Interest in working with colleagues to understand our products and improve our existing security infrastructure
- Published research on application security
We are a small focused group who is committed to protecting security of our customers and of Atlassian itself. We work both independently and in collaboration with development teams as we assess and respond to security issues that might occur with new products and features.
