Lead Designer, Mobile - Platform Team
Atlassian is one of the fastest growing software companies in the world, with millions of users across our products (JIRA, HipChat, Confluence, Bitbucket, and now - Trello, to name a few.). We're making a substantial investment in experience design, endeavouring to make Atlassian products essential for all Teams. We're expanding our global design organization and searching for passionate, talented designers to help us.
Atlassian's Platform team is empowered to envision and create a seamless and cohesive experience that works beautifully across the entire Atlassian product suite, allowing users to flow from one product to the next with little disruption. We're searching for a seasoned Lead Designer to join our Mobile Platform team. This is an opportunity to help define the standards and methodologies for Atlassian's mobile products. As one of the team's subject matter experts on mobile UX, you'll have the opportunity to influence and create reusable design components and libraries across the Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence, HipChat, Bitbucket, among others).
As a Lead Designer on our mobile platform team, you will work on a small, tight knit team alongside product managers and engineers, driving innovation across the entire end-to-end design process: early stage research and ideation, implementation and iteration. Ultimately, you'll work with your team to set the standard for how we build and design native mobile products at Atlassian. This is the perfect role for an experienced, seasoned designer who wants to be a craft leader, rather than a people manager.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you to have:
- 7+ years of hands-on professional experience as a Designer, with at least 3+ years designing mobile applications (iOS and Android)
- Deep experience working across complex design systems that span multiple products
- Strong facilitation and collaboration abilities, a flexible and friendly approach to working with teams, and the attitude to always strive for the best outcomes
- Interest in being a self-starter with your eye constantly on solutions: you're someone who can easily step into the customer's shoes with enthusiasm to craft magical experiences
More about our team
Designers at Atlassian are responsible for the complete user experience, from early stage research and ideation, through implementation and iteration based on key success metrics. We are always growing, learning, and adapting, in and out of the office. You'll be joining a team that is highly engaged and direct. We help each other to constantly improve our work and reach our potential. We're dedicated to Agile methodology and big believers in 'lean', which means we don't do documentation for documentation's sake. We also know all too well the importance of validating assumptions about users and use various types of testing to ensure we're right (or discover where we're wrong). It's all about improving our user's experience, no matter who or where it is.
More about the perks
Our offices are open, highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some killer perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, plenty of food and drinks (including our famous 'Charlie's bar'), ergonomic workstations with Aeron chairs, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and more.
