JIRA Feature Team Lead - Search and Navigation

We are seeking a Feature Team Lead to own and drive the development of JIRA’s most visible features, the Navigation and Search webpages. This diverse and hands-on position will provide technical leadership and mentorship through pairing and contributing product code, performing code reviews, and ongoing support. You’ll partner closely with our Design and Fabric teams to ensure we’re delivering a warm and simple end-user experience that’s consistent across all of our products. You’ll create tight relationships with the platform teams that support you, and work across various cross-product groups smoothing the path for your team to succeed. You’ll motivate individuals to form a tight, high-performing team.

Responsible for

  • Shaping and building the JIRA Search and Navigation team, removing barriers, planning, and running the day-to-day team operation

  • Improving the user experience by implementing Atlassian’s new design standards

  • Enhance current code base to support new feature development

  • Liaising with cross-product, Platform, and Design teams for delivery

  • Lead, grow, and motivate an agile team of 5 developers

  • Following through from project inception through design to delivery

  • Setting timescales and being accountable for the success of the team

  • Driving technical excellence within the team, pushing innovation and quality

To be successful

  • You have an excellent understanding of JavaScript and solid experience working with the Java backend

  • You keep up to date with current JavaScript technologies such as as ES6 and React

  • You’re familiar with agile software development methodologies, driving quality and eng health

  • You’ve grown up developing software products and have the battle scars of leading motivating teams up to 5 developers

  • You possess strong organizational and communication skills with experience of developing and instilling a culture of broad product ownership

  • You can be hands-on with the most junior developer on the team and also work with and challenge architects

  • You tailor your leadership style differently for every person to make them successful

  • You see the big picture and sweat the details
