The Atlassian Finance team is looking for someone to oversee internal financial and operational audits at Atlassian. Sound like you? Read on!

In this role, you will partner with the Head of Risk & Compliance to develop the enterprise risk assessment and related annual audit plan. You will be responsible for carrying out audits to ensure effective planning, execution, reporting and review. This role will interact with business owners to coordinate the audit and communicate findings/recommendations to the company’s Audit Committee, Management, and business owners. You’ll partner with our Controller and their organization to ensure we fully implement and maintain adequate controls per the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Act. You’ll be a key business partner to the Audit Committee and the CFO, helping to driving change and overall process improvement. The Head of Internal Audit will report directly to the Audit Committee, but will be part of the Finance Leadership staff and take day-to-day direction from the CFO.  This role will will drive company-wide Sox 404 testing, work closely with our external auditor and report back to the CFO and Audit Committee

We are seeking an objective leader who can add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. You should be able to build and maintain effective relationships with key leaders and stakeholders. Additionally, you’ll need experience leading and managing people and projects, especially those of a cross functional nature.  

More about you

For this role, we’re looking for an audit process and profession expert who has a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, finance, information technology or a related field. You should have at least 5-7 years of audit experience and a working technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, COSO, and SOX requirements. The ideal candidate also has some knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of core IT processes, and key systems and how they typically interact. We’re also looking for strong IT experience (with specific knowledge of how to utilize best practices of internal audit evaluation tools and techniques) and the willingness and ability to leverage technology to better ensure broad coverage and systematically identify potential risks. Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, high growth work environment is the key to success in this role; this person should be comfortable adapting and responding to unexpected situations. We want to see the proven ability to process map business processes to identify strengths, weaknesses, and possible/existing risks. You should be able to operate under minimal supervision and have expertise in planning, staffing, and prioritizing audit projects. To succeed in this role, you’ll need the ability to communicate technical information and ideas so others will understand, across different teams and parts of the organization, while also working effectively with contacts outside the company.
