Head of Software Engineering - Server
As a Head of Engineering at Atlassian, you will join an engineering-led company and the award-winning leader in software development and collaboration tools.
Our Server business continues to make an outsized contribution to Atlassian's overall business with over 20 product offerings that the largest companies in world run their business on. With over 30,000 self-hosted customers, we are on the hunt for an experienced and talented leader to help drive and lead the “Team Server” Engineering function (150+).
This role is challenging, ever changing, rewarding, and vital to our mission to of advancing humanity through the power of software. From NASA launching the Rover on Mars tor Cochlear gifting children with the ability to hear, your work will directly impact the products they use to advance humanity.
In addition to bringing genuine technical & people management abilities, your most important function is to inspire your teams to build better products.
Partnering with Product Management & Design, you’ll passionately drive products to market with a focus on scaling performance and better user experience. You’ll relish the accountability for delivering compelling, high quality releases.
On the Server Leadership team where you will partner with cross-functional peers to effectively lead and direct the Server business strategy, 'Team Server' vision, and goals. You are a key part of evangelizing and bringing this story to your teams across the Server Engineering org. Sound a lot like you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
· A strong background of managing managers & leading a team of 150+ engineers
· A deep management playbook with good examples of developing future leaders at all levels
· Pride in creating good engineering health among your teams
· Previous experience of creating a scalable environment for efficiency, velocity & quality
· A natural ability to cut thru the noise & help focus teams to just get stuff done
· Strong organizational and communication skills with experience of developing & instilling a culture of broad product ownership & cross product collaboration
· Broad knowledge in the areas of web architecture & tech used in enterprise level server-side deployments (Java, databases, linux/windows, Tomcat)
