Group Product Manager - HipChat

Job Description

As the Group Product Manager for Atlassian HipChat, you will drive our product strategy and lead a team of world-class Product Managers to grow HipChat at Atlassian.

You will define the strategy, functionality and user experience HipChat customers have on desktop, mobile and wearable devices. You’ll provide the platform for embedded Chat Apps, including Atlassian services like JIRA, third party services like Google Calendar, and hundreds more. You’ll help deliver the industry’s best business chat application, helping teams take action together all around the globe.

As a key member of global Product Leadership team you will represent HipChat across the organization and have direct responsibility for impacting Atlassian's overall strategy and HipChat contribution to it.

You will coach and grow the team of experienced product managers on HipChat, helping build the team that builds the product. You will drive our culture of user interaction and keep the delivery organization focused on real user needs. You’ll constantly evaluate market opportunities, analyze industry trends, articulate problems, validate ideas, and measure results.

More about you

We're expecting you to bring 10+ years of experience leading products and product teams. You have both genuine product management abilities and outstanding people management skills. You have experience with consumer or team messaging; low-latency, high availability, high scale global systems; multi-platform coordinated delivery (across desktop, mobile, web, platform); and can integrate ideas across all of those domains every day.

You inspire your teams to build better products with a constant drive to understand, question and improve the experiences for our users. You enjoy leading people, and are a no-bullshit communicator who listens carefully and communicates clearly. You strive for simplicity on the far side of complexity and you have a track record of shipping simple and beautiful products that scale.

More about our team

Group Product Managers at Atlassian are responsible for the complete product offering, from early stage research and ideation, through implementation and iteration based on key success metrics. We're dedicated to agile methodology, are extremely self-driven and do our very best at all times to validate assumptions about our users with various types of testing.

We are not looking for product leaders who just want to concentrate on one area, such as user research or visual design – we need you to be eager to deliver across the entirety of the product development lifecycle. We’re keen for you to bring experience that you can impart on the rest of us but also have to be interested to improve in many other skills, and humble enough to always reach out to learn more.

More about the perks

In 2015, Atlassian was awarded the #1 Best Place to Work in Australia for a second straight year—but the love doesn't stop there. We were also voted as the #1 Best Place to Work in Asia for two years running (small and medium size companies), #1 Best Place to Work in the Netherlands (large & multinational companies), and #2 in the US (medium size companies).

Our offices are open, highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some killer perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, plenty of food and drinks (including our famous 'Charlie's bar'), ergonomic workstations with Aeron chairs, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and more.
