Atlassian is looking for a seasoned leader to build and lead our new data and search engineering team. We’re looking for someone who is not only a talented leader, but who also has strong technical depth and experience. This leader will drive partnerships with business leaders, and establish a roadmap and vision for this newly formed team. As this team grows, you will be expected, at least initially, to contribute to the data science workload.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Experience managing up to the CEO level in setting direction and influencing business priorities.
A strong output focused a sense of accomplishment tied to business values.
Motivated to build an amazing team to deliver high performing results
Minimum of 5 years of management experience building and leading engineering teams
Deep experience in Data Science, both as an individual engineer and leading a team
Prior experience designing a data science roadmap, and executing the vision behind it
Strong entrepreneurial spirit and is excited about building from scratch
Experience instilling a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results
Experience solving constrained optimization problems.
Experience with, and a strong desire to use, the latest machine learning algorithms.
Experience with data visualization and strong design sensibilities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
It’s great, but not required you have:
A strong bias for action where you can balance uncertain requirements with a desire to deliver value
Exposure to causal inference, crowdsourcing, network science, and A/B testing.
