Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, IT, is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic sourcing plans that are utilized globally across Asurion's various sites and locations. The position will provide thought leadership from a strategic sourcing perspective and influence business partners to consider new and creative strategies. This position will negotiate contract terms and pricing and also lead ongoing supplier management. The role reports into the Director Global Indirect Procurement, IT. The scope while mostly U.S. has the intent of expanding globally and offers immediate opportunities to collaborate internationally. Success will be measured based on spend addressed, value delivered, collaboration and overall service to stakeholders. The position will be based at Asurion headquarters in Nashville, TN. (preferred and relocation available)


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Source and manage large suppliers for IT commodities such as software, hardware, telephony/networking or professional services.
  • Develop global category strategy based on data analysis and market trends; prepares financial models; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings; and presents results to internal business partners. Executes on results
  • Expert in gathering technical business requirements for enterprise agreements in multiple IT categories, extracting the greatest value in cost, security of supply, risk management, sustainability and innovation through project scope discovery and RFx processes
  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing for enterprise level master agreements, SOW's and work orders with a U.S. and global reach. Manages the ongoing performance of our suppliers including objective setting and supplier evaluations where warranted
  • Influences, leads and/or directs the development of global projects from inception to completion, appropriately involving others in decisions and plans that affect them. Surfaces problems and issues before projects get derailed
  • Forecast timely price and availability information on assigned commodities / suppliers to enable efficient decisions to support global strategies
  • Network externally to facilitate competitive intelligence including best practices, emerging or potential sources of competitive advantage, market pricing, benchmarking, etc.
  • Track and report savings and business value for each executed strategy and/or contract
  • Thorough understanding of the enterprise wide financials, EBITDA, and working capital and related impact when negotiating contracts. Extensive knowledge utilizing spreadsheets and sourcing tools
  • Be recognized as global subject matter expert by business partners, and valued member of the team
  • Highly versatile at a regional/global or sub-category level
Specific Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Indirect Procurement with preferred experience:
    • In a global business environment including interacting with global internal clients
    • IT strategic sourcing and contract negotiations experience with software, hardware, cloud services and SaaS. Specific negotiation experience with, but not limited to the following companies: Microsoft, Oracle, Workday, EMC, IBM, HP, Cisco, Dell, TIBCO, AWS, Azure
    • Domestic and International supplier relationship management with knowledge of APAC and EMEA trade customs, incoterms, PII and PCI.
    • Specific IT practitioner experience in infrastructure or software development (Preferred not required)
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse set of people, including executive levels of management. Projects a positive image and serves as a role model for others
  • Functions with integrity within Asurion and with suppliers
  • Exceptional negotiation, contract development, and analysis skills
  • Shows thought leadership within assigned categories, effectively managing internal customer expectations and competing demands, with a sense of optimism, and ownership. Has a high degree of category autonomy and can show strategic and long term planning skills

  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • CPSM, C.P.M., CTPE, CTPS or similar certification preferred
