Job Description:

The Systems Engineer serves as a technical and sales enablement consultant to Arrow partners and customers. Role works with internal and external client customer specifications and requirements to assist in developing, customizing, modifying, configuring or implementing software tools and/or software application products. Serves as pre-sales support specialist by representing technical engineering expertise and providing a blend of technical solutions, which enable partners and customers to maximize sales penetration. Role also serves as technical advisor or trainer to the sale force, when supporting or proposing solutions, and/or value-added services to customers.

Responsibilities include design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs (applications generally deal with utility programs, position control language, macros, subroutines, and other control modules.)

Performs all configuration engineering tasks associated with product release, and is responsible for the planning, documentation and development of related product builds and release (monitors, records, and controls change in order to maintain product integrity).

This position requires advanced skill level and product knowledge.


Systems Engineering:

  • Pre-Sales Configuration, Technical Design & Demonstration Consult, develop and implement technical and related sales enablement plans with partners and internal/external customers to support revenue and margin goals.
  • Provide Pre-Sales Technical Support, complex sales tool configurations, and systems design to implement systems software solutions and/or products.
  • Assist on partner sales calls as a technology consultant, and leverage vendor technical support teams. May be deployed on project teams to lead, create and document technical design activities.
  • Ensure that enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures are implemented within development projects.

Technology Education:

  • Training & Customer Technical Support Conduct partner and sales technical team training.
  • Assist Arrow customers and partners with technical certifications, or with product/technology demonstrations.
  • Educate partners, customers or developers on design patterns, best practices and optimal development techniques.
  • Provide design guidance to other technical leads and technical staff Serve as an architecture conduit for project level requests and queries, and provide education on systems engineering or enterprise architecture directions and goals.
  • Industry & Vendor Trends, Technologies, and Design Techniques Obtain training and maintain knowledge of industry standards, new technologies and current issues.

Stays current with design and programming techniques. Obtain technology certifications for areas of expertise, or for new or related technical projects/designs as needed, to support the business, customer or vendor.


  • A minimum of 3-5 years previous technology consulting or systems engineering experience.
  • This should include showcasing a broad technical knowledge base in network, systems and application design, development and delivery, as well at least two technical areas of in-depth knowledge and expertise. (I.e. Networking, Applications, Storage, Oracle Database, etc.)
  • Distribution or Reseller experience preferred.
  • Brocade, Cisco or equivalent industry certification Solid understanding of Ethernet and TC/IP Layer 2 and Layer 3 Network design Hypervisor understanding and knowledge Storage Area Networking (SAN) Fibre Channel skill set Other Qualifications Include; Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to resolve conflict, or provide influence at top levels of the customer hierarchy, as well across Arrow organizations.
  • Demonstrated previous success in providing technical consulting and customer solutions.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work well in a fast-paced changing environment under pressure.
  • Excellent presentation design and delivery skills are a must in this role.
  • Working knowledge of electronics fundamentals and systems design principles required.
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to drive programs and manage technical projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and influential relationships at every level of customer and supplier, and across organizations internally.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful production implementations and communicating and influencing at top levels internally or externally is required.
  • Ability to work independently while successfully contributing to achieve implementation results in a team environment is critical.
