We have an exciting opportunity for a Inbound Transportation Manager. This role will support distribution facilities across North America by managing inbound transportation carriers, service levels and costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the movement of inbound domestic and international shipments destined to multiple Arrow facilities in North America in accordance with company policy and procedure, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage the activities of carriers with regards to inbound processes, execution and performance for ocean, air freight, LTL, parcel and TL modes.
  • Analyze and recommend inbound shipment process and cost improvements as well as appropriate carriers to be used. Assist with negotiating carrier contracts and rates.
  • Manage carrier on-boarding to ensure smooth startups and/or transitions with no additional cost or service disruptions.
  • Ensure the effective use of systems and tools to support inbound shipment processes including ERPs, transportation management systems and carrier systems; ensure outputs produce adherence to regulations and company processes.
  • Initiate system recommendations and support documentation to promote inbound shipment process enhancements.
  • Manage training programs and procedures with Asset, Vendors and Arrow Receiving Departments to ensure process adherence and compliance to established procedures.
  • Identify and implement processes with Asset, Vendors and Arrow Receiving Departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant inbound shipment activities and processes and to drive cost savings.
  • Monitor, record, analyze and report on activities, trends, results and recommendations related to inbound shipment activities.
  • Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant transport methods, which meet the needs of the organization.
  • Proactively identify potential issues; develop and implement plans to resolve inbound shipment issues.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in related area or equivalent work experience
  • 5 to 7 years related experience
  • Experience working with small parcel, ocean, air freight, LTL shipments and carriers
  • Experience working with Freight Forwarders
  • Ability to retrieve, manipulate and present data
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills with adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to recognize opportunities and communicate to direct leadership
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a cross functional team environment
  • Strong MS Access, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
  • Experience working with a TMS, WMS and other Supply Chain systems
  • Experience in import rules and regulations
