Summary:

The Associate Buyer is a dynamic role that encompasses responsibility for the supporting the planning of material requirements and managing deliveries through supplier confirmation of order, resolution of past due shipments, expediting orders required to satisfy customer allocations / breadth of inventory requirements. This position will work very closely with the supply base, Product Team, and Sales Team to clear shortages to need, identify opportunities for productivity improvements, avoid downtime, avoid cost increases, and reduce lead-times.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes raw material demand for purchase and on-time delivery in an MRP environment.
  • Approve, confirm, and expedite purchase orders to meet daily customer and distribution requirements
  • Monitors supply base performance as related to confirmation and delivery, and works with the supply base to resolve issues.
  • Manages the MRP system to ensure 100% schedule and system accuracy as well as contract adherence where required.
  • Manages inventory levels to avoid excessive inventory, inventory shortages, and/or inventory inaccuracies within defined guidelines. Work with supply base to push out or pull in material as required
  • Analyze domestic and international shipping options to achieve optimal inventory levels.
  • Keep up-to-date on both actual and potential supply problems and/or delivery issues; provide timely communications and analysis to management.
  • Disposition discrepant material as needed.
  • Create purchase orders and ensure appropriate delivery.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain product, price, availability, and delivery information.

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent technical training and experience (i.e. working in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment requiring ongoing problem solving/analytical skills)
  • 2-3 years related experience
  • Prior knowledge & experience with Purchase Order management and Supplier engagement
  • Strong PC Literacy on MS Office Applications (i.e. V-look up)
  • Passion for customer service

Preferred Requirements:

  • Direct applicable experience (e.g. replenishment buyer/specialist, inventory specialist, re-stock buyer, wholesale/retail buyer) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to assess suppliers’ performance against predetermined goals.
  • Capable of assisting in improving supplier delivery performance and cost savings performance.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high transaction environment with strong organizational, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Solid ability to perform basic math calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in order to develop effective relationships with individuals and groups inside and outside the organization
  • Exhibits a strong customer service orientation with a strong sense of urgency to responding to internal customer needs
  • Experience in Military/Aerospace industry
