The Apple Watch team is seeking to add to the experienced electrical engineering leadership on the Watch System Architecture team. Key Qualifications
- Consumer electronics experience a strong plus
- Embedded programming experience a strong plus
- Scripting expertise (perl, python, matlab, etc.)
- Schematic capture (any package) with placement/routing experience required (at some point in career)
- Must have hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support
- Must have created and influenced system specification documents
- Position may require some domestic and international travel but not significant
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project and time management experience; Ability to drive multiple projects concurrently
- Be extremely fast learners across HW and SW engineering disciplines (be broad)
- Be insatiably curious about how and why things work
- Impeccable intuition
Description
- You will review & influence module/technology roadmaps while keep current with technology trends. - Work with x-functional engineering managers and architects on HW/SW enabling technologies - You will exercise engineering rigor and create internal and external system specifications - You will review & influence system performance decisions - You may define, simulate, and model product performance vs. power (performance per watt) - You will help specify, negotiate, and document system power management & user level behaviors enabling key features with small batteries - You may help define, develop, and utilize tools, scripts for system modeling and analysis - You will assess and track product system integration risks & implementation trade-offs with early fit studies - You may utilize schematic and layout tools such as Cadence Concept & Allegro for the purposes of prototype development - Predict & prepare for future product system integration & interconnect needs - Mentor junior engineer for best practices in systems development - You may take part in prototype design, bring-up and debugging - You may be involved with peak power modeling, methodologies, throttling and system mitigations development, validation, testing and characterization - You will be involved with battery life modeling, battery characterization and collaborate with teams responsible for battery longevity and swell mitigation - You will continuously drive power optimizations across the entire Watch architecture - You will help drive charging roadmaps
Education & Experience
BSEE and/or MSEE or equivalent
