The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. The Camera Electronics team develops image sensor and other silicon solutions and technologies for Apple's products, including the iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, and more. The key goal of the team is to enable the world's best camera experience for our customers. New challenges arise every day that require the sharp analytical skills of talented and smart individuals. The team is looking for an exceptional Image Sensor Validation Engineer to join the team.
- Strong programming skills, including C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and other scripting languages.
- Strong communication skills with experience authoring formal specification documents, and the ability to communicate cross-functionally.
- Familiarity with optical and electrical characterization tools, including logic analyzers and lab automation.
- Experience implementing or using image sensors.
- Ability to travel internationally.
Interact with internal camera system hardware and software engineers to understand requirements and opportunities. Interact with sensor vendors to understand how they are meeting requirements, and validate their implementations. Develop methodologies for internally and externally validating system requirements, including functional reference models, hardware simulations, FPGA systems, and sensor evaluation hardware. Develop and publish reference drivers and recommended configurations to internal teams for characterization, manufacturing, and production implementation. Develop and report on measures of sensor quality, especially as it relates to the functionality of system components external to the sensor. Travel to vendor sites as required for implementation reviews.
Education & Experience
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. An MS or PhD is preferred.
- Hardware design experience (Verilog, RTL synthesis, circuit design) is helpful.
- Experience with non-image sensors (ambient light, proximity, MEMS, for example) is desirable
