Environment & Supply Chain Innovation (ESCI) Decarbonization Program Manager
Apple's worldwide Operations organization drives, develops, and establishes the business relationship between Apple's Design & Engineering teams and our suppliers. The Environment & Supply Chain Innovation (ESCI) team is seeking a world-class Environmental Strategy Decarbonization Program Manager to serve as the owner and lead program manager of a portfolio of projects tied to decarbonization and Apple 2030. This U.S.-based role requires deep operations, supply chain, procurement, and vendor management experience paired with the strategic vision to architect and execute multi-year environmental programs at scale. The ideal candidate is a driven, independent, and analytical systems thinker who is passionate about sustainability and thrives in complex, cross-functional environments.
Description
I. Own & Drive Unified Environmental Strategy for Portfolio of Decarbonization Projects
- Synthesize a Unified Vision: Collect environmental program needs, challenges, and roadmaps from key stakeholders, engage deeply to understand their requirements, and consolidate them into a single, unified decarbonization and circularity strategy.
- Define & Drive the Roadmap: Establish annual milestones and KPIs that map to the company's high-level environmental targets. Identify and qualify new supply chains, assess and mitigate risks, and accelerate progress toward key milestones where feasible.
- Identify Gaps & Opportunities: Analyze the current landscape to identify strategic gaps, formulate hypotheses for new reduction and decarbonization opportunities, and chart the course for resolution. Plan for and provide tradeoff recommendation frameworks to cross functional and executive teams to empower decision making.
II. Lead Cross-Functional Integration & Execution
- Embed Sustainability into Core Processes: Run ideation sessions to integrate program work into existing organizational forums and processes (e.g., SPOR, NPI/design gates) to scale impact and deliver lasting environmental change. Strategically integrate all ESCI programs into early design and product roadmap
- Act as Lead Program Manager for Select Commodity: Serve as the primary program manager across environmental work streams within designated commodity, driving environmental needs across the company.

- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Run ESCI core teams and working groups to enable alignment, coordinate supplier and cross-functional partner engagement, and ensure all teams - including Operations, Environmental Technologies, EHS, SR, and Customs - are moving in the same direction.
- Design Templates and Deploy Tools: enable cross-functional Engineering, Operations, and Industrial Design teams to identify and drive meaningful environmental opportunities with autonomy that extend the reach of the environmental teams.
III. Manage Executive Communication & Alignment
- Create and Run Executive Forums: Establish cross-functional executive forums to highlight the unified strategy, report on progress, manage escalations, and secure resources.
- Drive Leadership Decisions: Use a "Master Issue List" and other tools to surface critical information into executive forums, enabling leadership to redirect strategies and resources as needed.
- Advise Senior Leadership: Prepare and deliver strategic recommendations and progress updates - including rapid synthesis of complex findings - directly to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA a plus
A systems thinker who can navigate sophisticated interconnections to identify key points of leverage.
Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize and present complex findings clearly to senior leaders in a global environment.
Exceptionally detailed, quick, adaptable, and analytical - able to make sound decisions with ~80% information.
Self-starter with a passion for environmental sustainability.
Integrity, innovation, and attention to detail.
Able to communicate effectively in a worldwide environment, and to rapidly synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders.

Minimum Qualifications
BS/BA degree
7+ years of program management, supply chain, commodity management, or operations experience.
Demonstrated ability to define and drive multi-year project roadmaps, establishing annual targets and identifying opportunities to accelerate progress.
Proven project management skills with experience leading interdisciplinary teams, international partners, and suppliers.
Experience qualifying and enabling new supply chains and assessing and mitigating business risk.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,200 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
