We are seeking an innovative Researcher/Engineer with a passion and fundamental background in 3D geometry and meshing as well as audio technology. In this role you are expected to have interest and experience in developing geometric modeling and processing algorithms for next generation hardware and software products. You will partner with the audio, vision, algorithms, product design, and other teams to guide the future of Apple's technology and experience across our products. •You will perform independent research and development of emerging and future technologies •You'll also develop and implement algorithms for computational geometry and acoustics simulation for future products (C++, Objective-C, Swift)

Key Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of computational geometry and geometrical modeling
  • Experience with real-time hierarchical spatial data structures
  • Understanding of computer graphics and ray tracing
  • General understanding of room acoustics
  • Excellent C/C++, and MATLAB or Python skills
  • Experience with C++ multi-threading real-time environments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Geometrical mesh processing, including 3-D model repair and automatic simplification
  • Multiresolution modeling and rendering (Level-of-Detail)
  • Architectural 3-D modeling
  • Geometry acquisition and scanning, using point clouds and meshes
  • Profiling and optimizing high-performance code
  • Swift / Objective-C


Description

Apple's advanced spatial audio technology is a cornerstone of our augmented reality frameworks; it is at the core of any compelling user experience. You will have the opportunity to build software that directly impacts how customers use our products. We work closely with Apple's human interface design team and our internal audio software teams to define and develop the next generation of audio experiences and applications. The ideal engineer for this role is comfortable working in a dynamic and creative team charged with exploring an uncharted and rapidly evolving domain. You will be researching and developing entirely new apps and experiences, a challenge that will demand rapid experimentation and prototyping without sacrificing code quality or attention to detail. You'll need a keen understanding of the state of the art in interactive applications and an ambition to discover what the future holds in this space.

Education & Experience

BS, MS or PhD - Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Graphics, Mathematics, or similar
