The Packaging team is a cohesive and diverse group of engineers responsible for the exploration and implementation of new and innovative designs in structural packaging for all Apple products. The team is firmly committed to making huge impact in environmental sustainability through our creative design, technology and development, and innovative use of materials in packaging. Apple is looking for a highly motivated CAD engineer to join the Packaging Product Design team. This engineer will be someone who approaches their work with curiosity, detailed organization, and precision. The Packaging team values engineers with a desire to acquire new skills and will offer the candidate opportunities to further enhance their understanding in disciplines including materials selection, fibers & textiles, cosmetic detailing, testing, tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, design for high volume assembly/manufacturability (paper folding, molded fiber forming, CNC, die-cutting, thermoforming, injection molding), statistical process control, etc

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years design and drafting experience with NX preferred
  • experience in the product development cycle and proficiency in designing parts and assemblies for high volume manufacturing
  • applied understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T and statistical process control
  • strong communication and organizational skills; ability to articulate
  • experience working in a highly collaborative team environment and self-motivated to identify and resolve design issues


Description

- CAD assembly ownership, 3D part design, 2D drawing creation & updates - Application of GD&T to critical features and surfaces in technical drawings - Application of advanced surfacing techniques and parametric modeling - FEA analysis for evaluation and optimization of components - Management and modification of assembly and part information in Teamcenter -Creation of basic to complex dielines for Packaging components using Artios CAD -Close collaboration with suppliers and vendors to coordinate releases, review, and implement DFM suggestions - Education and mentorship of engineers in best-practice CAD techniques

Education & Experience

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
