The documentation engineering team is responsible for creating world-class tools and framework-level support for the documentation workflows in Xcode, Swift Playgrounds, and the developer website. Apple has an outstanding reputation for product quality and we need your help to build automated tests and tools for our educational products that we make available to the developer community. We are looking for a creative, motivated, and passionate engineer who has experience with software automation to work with us to design and build automation tools to provide a great documentation experience for developers. In this role you will develop automation solutions to support and enhance our quality initiatives in a highly collaborative environment.

Key Qualifications

  • 1 year minimum prior programming experience
  • Excellent knowledge of software development lifecycle, test methodologies, and passion for quality processes
  • Experienced in developing test strategies, tools, and architecting test frameworks
  • Ability to investigate, debug and triage difficult problems and independently work towards results
  • A working knowledge of UNIX commands
  • Experience writing automation for macOS/iOS applications in Swift is a plus
  • An understanding of documentation processes and their impact on delivering software
  • Strong analytics and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and cross-culturally


Description

You will work to design new tools to qualify documentation features across a wide variety of Apple's products. You will be asked to develop an automation test plan in cooperation with development engineering to cover the new features of our products. As development progresses, you will work closely with engineers to build and maintain automated test suites and infrastructure. Along the way, you will build knowledge of issues with our products and expand the automation test suites to cover those. Your role is to ensure Apple delivers world-class and high quality documentation to our millions of end users and third-party developers. Your duties include: Development, deployment and maintenance of automated tests Analysis of test results and delivering of clear and actionable bug reports Identifying areas of improvement in our documentation pipeline and processes, and addressing issues with innovative solutions Working cross-functionally with other engineering teams, developer tools, designers, QA and project management teams throughout Apple

Education & Experience

BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics (or equivalent experience)

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Skills:
  • - Experience with iOS, macOS, and Xcode
  • - Experience developing with the iOS or macOS SDK
  • - Experience on testing shipping consumer-oriented products
  • - Passion for Apple products, the documentation user experience and the developer user experience within Xcode
