The mission of the Sr. Director, Strategic Partnerships is to develop and execute a partnership strategy that unlocks unit acquisition with a primary focus on up-market customers and their needs while balancing AppFolio business objectives.

Your responsibilities will include, though not limited to the following key areas:

What You’ll Do 

  • Develop a clear and coordinated multi-year strategy for Strategic Partnerships that fuels growth across our customer segments.
  • Reimagine and launch an AppFolio partner program that clearly answers the question “Why partner with AppFolio?” and accelerates product market fit, delights our customers and delivers value to our partners.
  • Source, prioritize, develop, negotiate, and execute innovative partnerships in support of AppFolio’s business and product strategy.
  • Ensure close collaboration with Product leaders and Corporate Development on build, buy or partner opportunities.
  • Define success metrics for evaluating partnerships and lead the integration of all partnerships with key functional areas to ensure AppFolio’s ability to sell, service and support our customers and partners.
  • Hire and develop a world class Partnerships team.

  • Entrepreneurship & Agility.  Skilled at stepping into ambiguous situations, challenging the status quo applying an agile “progress over perfection” mindset.
  • Communication.  Exceptional storyteller with the ability to clearly and simply articulate the “what” and “why” of our Partner Strategy  to internal and external (customers and partners) stakeholders.
  • Influence and Partnership.  Exceptional relationship builder with ability to effectively navigate across the organization and at all levels to drive alignment and action.
  • Decision Making.  Ability to make and communicate principled decisions with imperfect data and speed.
  • Hiring & Developing People.  Hires the best and a people builder who provides challenges and stretch goals to develop, coach and motivate a high performing team.  Holds their team accountable to high standards of excellence.


  • 8+ years direct experience leading partnerships strategy and contract/deal negotiations.
  • SaaS and B2B experience highly preferred.
  • Direct experience building a partnership strategy working closely with product and sales leaders to deliver differentiated value for customers.
  • Collaborative relationship builder with an ability to consistently seek out and validate new partnership opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred.
