Job Description

We are the One by AOL and our ambition is to become the leading global platform maximizing value and opportunity in the transaction and relationship between publishers and marketers. We are looking for a strong Technical Manager for our Analytics and Reporting engineering team based in Dulles, VA. Analytics and Reporting provide insights and recommendations to advertisers enabling them to make more effective data driven decisions, faster.

As a Technical Manager you will work with Product Leadership, our internal and external stakeholders and customers, other AOL Platform teams to maximize the impact of our engineering investments in the area. You will lead an engineering team with a combination of on-site and geo-distributed resources, focusing on agility and productivity. You will be accountable for the delivery of services and products that fulfil our current and long term product and business ambitions and are able to meet these ambitious targets, particularly in terms of scale and responsiveness. You will curate a productive engineering and team culture with healthy values around accountability, ownership and which enables risk taking and is supportive of out-of-the-box thinking. You will have a substantive impact on the engineering architecture and technical implementation of Reporting services and components, will have awareness of latest developments in the area and able to apply those into a continuous roadmap for the evolution of our platform. Most of all, your will share our purpose and drive to become a powerful force in this market, delighting our customers.

In this role, you’re going to have the opportunity to: 

  • Work as part of the Advertising Technology team to design and deliver new & maintain existing platforms and systems

  • Work closely with Software Engineers and Architects to triage technical issues and provide clear resolutions in a collaborative way. 

  • Demonstrate technical leadership as well as exceptional people management skills. 

  • Translate strategic goals into tactical execution for the team. 

  • Collaborate with Product and Design teams across the company to deliver results. 

  • Successfully own and execute projects; ensuring that project deliverables are on time and meet or exceed quality standards. 

  • Lead and line manage software developers, delivering on multiple products spanning various technologies and organized into several agile teams

  • Inspire others with your passion for technology and user experience. 

  • Initiate bold ideas with a clear impact on the business 

  • Hire and develop top engineering talent. 

  • Lead strategy and execution around quality, test automation, continuous integration and deployment.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or related engineering field 

  • Contribution in Design and working with team to accomplish product development in a fast paced environment

  • Have a proven track record of technical management (development and testing) and people management experience 

  • Experience building high-performance teams, including performance management

  • 5+ years of software development, with 5 or more years of team leadership/management.

  • Experience in building large scale Web applications across different platforms 

  • 5+ years of experience in Java, C/C++ helpful; focused on service and business layer application development 

  • Solid understanding of backend services in an enterprise architecture environment (REST-based web services, microservices)

  • Have a deep hands-on understanding and experience in server side technologies and working with Unix/Linux environments.

  • Sound knowledge of understanding of RDBMS, Metadata, and general database concepts (Vertica and MySQL)

  • Development Experience on Software as Service (SaaS) platform is helpful

  • Experience in delivering software in a fast paced environment, and a good grasp on agile methodologies
