Job Description

Verizon Digital Media Services is looking for a Product Manager/Product Owner for our “Order to Cash” (Rating, Billing, Payment, Collections and Customer Interaction software) to work as part of the Product Commercialization team. The PM/PO, working in Agile Scrum environment, is focused on long and short term vision of the product, harmonizing customers' interests with IT delivery; prioritizing the request backlog and translating requirements into user stories, writes (Story Level) Acceptance Criteria and business value scoring and success metrics. In addition, the PM/PO will be responsible for assisting in the commercialization of new services and products and the constant improvement and evolution of the end-to-end supporting systems and processes. As such, we are looking for a roll-up-the-sleeves person who can operate both tactically, to define high level requirements and lead sprint planning, and strategically, bringing to life how our order to cash processes and procedures fit into the overall business strategy. 

You will:

  • Identify, define, prioritize and elevate the relevant topics/risks to the team through gathering, analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting information/data from the cross-functional team to inform sound business decisions

  • Research and respond to customer questions in a timely manner; identifying opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, or development of new process/policies

  • Act as the subject-matter expert for solutions owned by the team managing and communicating trade-off decisions between scope (value in expected ROI) and schedule (higher operating expense in longer release cycles)

  • Be responsible for creating and grooming a backlog of well-formed stories for implementation by the area's scrum team

  • Assist in developing pricing models for different markets and types of customers to increase and optimize VDMS in-market sales

  • Assist in assessing competitors in different markets and conducting appropriate business planning

  • Assist in assessing costs associated with VDMS sales to ensure programs exceed break-even point

You have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience with professional software consulting or development

  • Strong Marketing/Sales and Accounting/Finance knowledge and background

  • Agile Product Owner and Product Management experience with several years of experience working in a highly agile (Kanban, Scrum, XP) environment influencing key stake holders for buy in on business priorities with ability to say 'No' and have folks like it

  • Proven problem solving ability and able to make trade-off decisions between possible and desirable, which requires a good sense of technical feasibility

  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and identify efficiency opportunities and/or solutions to resolve process gaps or related business challenges

  • Negotiation, math, analytical, problem solving, decision making, and deductive reasoning skills applied under time sensitive conditions while operating with limited or ambiguous information

  • Background in or familiarity with merger and acquisition company integration activities.

  • The PM/PO must communicate (written and verbal) effectively with all areas of the company as this role will have visibility and interaction with the most senior leaders

You also have:

  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS)

  • Taken active ownership and interest in sharing knowledge that will help the team provide deliverables through mentoring and coaching

  • Self-educate on forward thinking industry trends within Billing, Collections and Invoice Presentment

  • Ability to build strong relationships across functions and bring people together towards a common goal

  • Strong organizational skills with a good sense of judgement to prioritize what needs to get done

  • Background in or familiarity with financial analysis and modeling as well as business-to-business contract creation/negotiations (e.g. Master Service Agreements, Service Level Agreements, Reseller Agreements, etc...)
