Job Description

Oath is looking for a Communications professional to cover maternity leave and join a fast paced and high performing PR team in London to work across Oath’s consumer brands (including HuffPost, Tumblr, Yahoo, TechCrunch, BUILD, Engadget and MAKERS). The Sr. Communications Manager will be responsible for driving consumer coverage for Oath’s portfolio of brands in the UK and other international markets, overseeing publicity for Oath’s original video programming, as well as driving coverage in trade media around the consumer brands working in partnership with the B2B team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage creative PR strategies that maximise Oath’s portfolio of brands in consumer media – digital, print and broadcast.

  • Manage and execute publicity campaigns across Oath’s varied slate of original video programming across its consumer brand portfolio.

  • Develop and manage global strategic communications plans around editorial content & initiative /original video series rollouts/events like TechCrunch Disrupt, in addition to the creative manufacturing of storylines between big announcements.

  • Handle day-to-day press activity – reacting to press enquiries as they arise and proactively publicising any exclusives and key news lines from interviews and blogs and raising editor profiles through media

  • Responsible for writing strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&As, briefing memos for editors, and distributed media materials; managing consumer brand messages; and managing media related presentations and events for editors and the consumer brands.

  • Partner with broader global communications team to ensure alignment with brand messaging and establish best practices.

  • Work closely with internal departments such as the editorial, product and video teams, to create leading and disruptive storylines in the press; proactive stories; POVs/bylines/opinion pieces, etc that have an impact on the business as a whole.

  • Project manage and liaise with Oath’s PR agency partners across the globe.

Qualifications

Key Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates will ideally have 6-7 years' PR/communications consumer experience

  • Organizational skills; clear and strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute multi-platform communications strategies

  • Previous experience working in media brands / TV or video would be ideal 

  • An understanding of digital advertising/monetisation strategies for brands

  • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Proven success working with executives on messaging, speaking opportunities and media requests

  • Ability to think creatively, approach communications from new angles, and manage both up and down the organization.

  • Strong journalist relationships with consumer media titles.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate national, consumer and trade coverage – print, online and broadcast.

  • Experience managing the PR around large scale events.

  • Experience working for or managing communications agencies

  • Passion for the digital ecosystem and the pace of change in the space
