Security Technical Manager

The Technical Manager position is within AOL’s IT Security group whose mission is to deliver information security solutions and services that protect AOL information assets, computing infrastructure, applications and data. Among other duties, the manager will lead the IT Security compliance team which performs a variety of hands-on, technical and non-technical compliance tasks. The Technical Manager will manage a small dedicated team and is expected to be a hands-on manager with overall responsibility for the team’s duties and performance. The team responsibilities include the following:
Vulnerability Management. The team is responsible for the management and execution of AOL vulnerability management program. The program encompasses the discovery, analysis, documentation, tracking, communication and follow-up of vulnerabilities found in AOL systems and infrastructure.
Technical Security Guidance. The team is responsible for providing security technical guidance for AOL technical teams (Developers, Admins and Architects). The guidance encompasses a variety of technical concepts including encryption, security best practices, hardening, secure configuration and Cloud security.
Compliance. The team performs a number of compliance activities to ensure that AOL systems and users are in compliance with documented policies and security standards. The compliance activities include manual checks, automated checks, monitoring, verification and validation.
The technical manager is expected to bring new insights and capabilities that will drive the progress of the compliance team at AOL. The technical manager will utilize innovative and creative approaches to solving technical problems and challenges related to the compliance team’s execution and delivery of assigned tasks. He or she will plan and execute on the team’s mandate and ensure continuous improvement in terms of performance and execution.

Manage and lead a team of security analysts/engineers to meet the needs in the above description.
Provide technical leadership and insights to the team with hands-on involvement as needed.
Develop and utilize a risk-based approach to identify and mitigate compliance findings across all areas of responsibility.
Manage risk by analyzing technology security threats and potential impacts to the business and help define solutions to mitigate exposure by leveraging expert analytical and technical skills.
Develop and implement plans for effective execution of the compliance team’s responsibilities including Vulnerability Management, Technical Security Guidance and Compliance activities.
Work with outside entities to provide technology evidence, documented exceptions, mitigating controls, and/or remediation activities underway to verify AOL technology compliance.
Interface with different stakeholders inside and outside the IT security organization to drive progress and make appropriate technical and process changes.
Perform project management activities as they relate to the execution and delivery of the compliance team projects and deliverables.
Generate and provide reports and metrics on all compliance activities
In-depth knowledge in information security concepts, technologies and tools.
Solid understanding of information security policies, standards and industry best practices
Able to successfully plan, organize, motivate, and direct resources to get results
Proven knowledge of infrastructure, database, network and web application security vulnerability issues.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Strong analysis and analytics experience. Ability to create influential presentations to convey complex risks and issues to different audiences.
Experience in the following technologies: Vulnerability Scanners, Vulnerability Management Systems, Host Based Security Systems, and Patch Management.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information systems or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on technology risk, security and/or governance experience
Prior supervisory experience
Experience in large scale vulnerability management planning and execution across a diverse number of technologies and systems.
Experience in AWS security.
Experience in PCI compliance.
