Job Description

Do you spend all of your free time on social media? Are you obsessed with GIFs, trending content, social videos and creating video content for social platforms? Are you looking for a fast-paced job where you’ll be able to work with social media platforms, production equipment, and content tools to engage and attract new users?

We are currently seeking a Social Video Fellow to join the team. Creating videos, graphics, and other types of multimedia content to engage audiences and be distributed on MAKERS.com and all of our social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and YouTube. you’ll be joining a hard-working team that takes social seriously. You will be creating content for MAKERS.com platforms and social channels that spans a wide range of topics, from news, to lifestyle, to entertainment, and more.

You will work with MAKERS’s Social, Video, and Editorial team to strategize and create daily content.

Our ideal candidate has a good eye for trending content and understands what makes social videos and photos go viral. The candidate is a quick learner that can make creative social content about a wide range of topics. He or she is willing to travel or attend events on nights/weekends occasionally, and is comfortable learning new platforms, apps, and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Create fun, engaging, shareable, and informative content for MAKERS platforms and social channels on a daily basis.

  • Be on top of trending stories that can be visualized on social in a fun, new way.

  • Promote content created across MAKERS social channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Pinterest, Tumblr, Linkedin, and YouTube.

  • Assist the team on the ground at events for live content creation, like events, conferences, panels, BUILD series interviews, marches, and more.

  • Assist on off-platform, native video creation for other social platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with social media and visual content creation -- everything from social quote cards and memes, to GIFS and short videos.

  • Strong communications skills and ability to write fun, informative social copy.

  • Understands ‘everything video’ on social media, from Twitter to Facebook to Vine and Tumblr, must have knowledge of different platforms and how they feature and promote video on social.

  • Interest in digital media and social video production.

  • Knowledge of how to use Twitter, Vine, and Facebook for social promotion.

  • Video production knowledge and experience is required.

  • Experience using tools like Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Crowdtangle, Content Management Systems (CMS) and Photoshop is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating social video for a digital media brand.
  • An avid social media user.
  • Experience editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
