Back End Software Engineer

AOL is looking to augment our media sales engineering team with a talented back end developer who will be working on rebuilding key sales and operations tools that our internal teams use on a daily basis. This is a high visibility role that will directly impact all of our sales, account management, and operations teams.
Collaborate with other team members to create and implement APIs and back-end services
Maintain and make use of re-usable components
Ability to implement code to improve overall responsiveness and performance of the application
Participate in meetings and discussions to facilitate team workflow
Assist in the development of standards, methodologies and repeatable processes for delivery of services and code
Deep understanding of Java and other supporting back-end technologies
Experience with a various Java frameworks
Understanding of REST APIs, OOP, and related best practices
Extensive knowledge of architecture and design patterns and anti-patterns
Knowledge of asynchronous systems and message queues
Understanding of relational and non-relational databases
Knowledge of agile programming and project management
Understanding of OS fundamentals, command line tools, and basic shell scripting
Experience with SVN, ANT, GIT and or general configuration management methodologies
Deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment that requires ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Great learning experience and hands-on training in a fun, collaborative environment
