Job Description

AOL.com is currently seeking a Social Fellow to join the AOL.com programming team on the News team. The Social Fellow role is detail-oriented, curious and passionate about great storytelling, particularly in news and politics. They possess strong multi-platform and digital content experience across creation, curation and distribution.

The Social Fellow will obsess over finding the best and most highly sociable news content to delight and captivate our audience. The position works closely with our frontpage teams to provide support on news stories. The position is full-time in our New York office, and is a great chance to join the ranks of one of the most highly-trafficked internet destinations today. 

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is well versed in digital, responsible, meticulous, motivated and passionate about all things web. The candidate will also work closely with the product team as attached to AOL.com.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage posting on all channel social accounts (including, if applicable Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)

  • Coordinate with social leads on Front Page and Main AOL.com account promotion of social-first channel content

  • Create and curate highly-shareable, social-first content to drive a new audience to the channel

  • Optimize channel content for maximum social sharing and performance

  • Contribute to management of all aspects of the News channel page including DLs, modules and growth partnerships

  • Track channel social traffic performance, pacing, and manage communication to entire AOL.com Channel and Audience Development teams

  • Track real-time and competitive insights using Shareablee, CrowdTangle, and Facebook Insights

  • Work directly with the social media and channel teams to implement and improve News channel social media strategy

  • Work directly with other channel social leads for relevant cross-promotion of content

  • Manage and send out relevant channels newsletters (Ex: Breaking News Newsletter)

  • QA content, for quality, style and presentation

  • Track full metrics and analytics for all content programmed

Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 year of editorial experience; editing content and copy for high-traffic websites

  • Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS)  

  • Experience creating digital video

  • Familiarity and experience with complex web content management systems, information architecture, SEM / SEO tools, faceted classification and metadata 

  • A broad knowledge of, and an interest in, U.S. current events and pop culture
