General Manager, Supplemental Products

Amplify builds innovative and compelling digital educational products that empower teachers and students across the country. We have a long history as the leading innovator in K-12 education - and have been described as the best tech company in education and the best education company in tech. While others try to shrink the learning experience into the technology, we use technology to expand what is possible in real classrooms with real students and teachers.

Amplify works with educators across the country - and about 2 million students. Although we're a technology company, we don't believe that our work is over the moment a teacher has a new software license. Instead, it's just beginning - we work side-by-side with educators and school leaders, fitting our products into the lived reality of classrooms and schools.

The General Manager will lead the successful commercialization of Amplify Supplementals setting the vision and strategy for Amplify's digital supplemental business unit over the next five years and growing a $100M+ business. Specifically, the General Manager will identify and pursue opportunities to rapidly grow revenues for Amplify Supplementals while meeting annual EBITDA targets, and to ensure that the Supplemental products have a profound and lasting positive impact on student learning. Amplify Supplementals currently include Amplify Reading, Amplify Close Reading, Amplify Fractions and Amplify Vocabulary.

Go to Market: The General Manager is responsible for launching Amplify Supplementals into the market, working to define the positioning, unique selling points, and strategy for establishing new distribution channels, a sales pipeline and a purchase funnel. Working with the product team leads and the Chief Marketing Officer, the GM will develop and execute on an agreed launch plan with clear milestones and adoption targets as well as a detailed pricing and promotions strategy.

Opportunity Assessments: The General Manager will identify, define and pursue the major opportunities to grow the bookings and revenues of Amplify Supplementals both in FY18 and over the next 5 years. Key revenue opportunities will include driving sales directly to teachers, via inside sales and through a growing team of building sales reps, responding to district level RFPs for supplemental product, cross-selling with other Amplify products, and, potentially, select international and partnership opportunities and competitor acquisitions.

Program Definition: The General Manager will define what Amplify Supplemental products need to become in order to win significant market share in the digital supplemental market and to have a lasting and positive impact on students learning.

The General Manager will ensure that Amplify's supplemental products incorporate and adapt to feedback from teachers and students, to input from Sales and from external market and subject experts. The General Manager will work with product leads to ensure that the products achieve high levels of satisfaction with teachers and with students, as measured through renewal rates, NPS and other engagement surveys. The General Manager will continually track competitors and market trends using the external data to adapt and evolve Amplify Supplementals such that the products become market leaders.

Product Development: The General Manager will work with the Chief Product Officer, SVP Product and with product team leads, with Marketing and with Sales to determine the product roadmap for each supplemental product.

Unified Product Experience: The General Manager will be responsible for working across the supplemental product teams to establish a consistent user experience and identify areas where shared functionality will benefit users and the business. The General Manager will also work with SVP, Amplify Product to ensure Amplify Supplementals integrate easily with Amplify's core curriculum products.

Product Impact: The General Manager is responsible for working with the individual product teams to facilitate a trackable definition for how student learning will be positively impacted. This includes ensuring the appropriate metrics are in place to monitor impact and the initiation of any relevant outside studies to provide independent and marketable statements of product

Business Champion: The General Manager will be a visible leader for Amplify Supplementals supporting major district Sales if appropriate, speaking at major industry events, advocating for the product internally and with Amplify's shareholder, Emerson Collective. The General Manager will champion Amplify Supplementals with key internal stakeholders including Sales management, the Executive team, and department leads.

Revenue Model: The General Manager will establish pricing for each Amplify supplemental product including setting promotions and discounts, and creating bundles, and will ensure that pricing complies with MFN restrictions.

P&L Management: The General Manager will be responsible for developing and managing against an annual budget, as well as the multi year investment plan for Amplify Supplementals. The General Manager will track progress against the budget on a monthly basis and will be responsible for quarterly re-forecasting. The General Manager will ensure that appropriate resources are in place for each major investment and will work with Amplify Product and Technology leads, with Marketing, Services and Operations to ensure strong "forward planning" and "end to end" planning for all major initiatives.

Business Analytics Tracking. The General Manager will closely track key metrics including number of students and teachers enrolled, renewal rates, program usage, teacher satisfaction and impact on student learning outcomes based on internal and external benchmarks. The General Manager will work with the marketing team to track teacher purchases, marketing qualified leads, conversion through funnel, cost of acquisition, lifetime value, and return on marketing investment.
