This position is part of the Credit and Fraud Risk Compliance team which is responsible for administering a comprehensive regulatory compliance program for the Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) function at American Express. The position will be responsible for the compliance program focusing on Credit Risk management for Kabbage strategic imperatives, focusing on Cash Flow Acceleration, upcoming new partnerships, and other integrations. The successful candidate will interface regularly with the Kabbage CFR team and will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and support for risk management strategies and initiatives for non-card lending, from targeted solicitation through underwriting, decision science models review customer management and collections, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Specific qualifications and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and compliance guidance to the Kabbage Credit and Fraud Risk team on strategic imperatives, focusing on Cash Flow Acceleration & other upcoming integrations, by reviewing the risk management strategies across E2E risk functional areas, from new accounts to collections, and interface effectively with the support teams to ensure proper communication and collaboration across multiple organization lines.
  • Maintain a proficient knowledge of banking laws and regulations, their impact on American Express products, operations, and services, as well as consumer protection laws and regulations governing loan activities to support health care claims acceleration.
  • Define and ensure proper documentation and approve compliance related procedures, requirements, communications and other credit and fraud risk management related activities.
  • Support CFR's continuous innovation, while enhancing customer experience and ensuring safe and sound practices, consistent with regulatory expectations
  • Provide Reg B and credit & fraud risk related subject matter expertise to other compliance teams, as appropriate
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessment, monitoring, and reporting activities to keep business and bank leadership informed of regulatory risks and issues.
  • Research laws, regulations, operations policies, and procedures to provide guidance to the Kabbage Credit and Fraud Risk partners regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Support Risk Assessments and Corrective Actions, as applicable
  • Work closely with the General Counsel's Office while maintaining strong working partnerships with other Compliance Officers, and other key subject matter experts across the Blue Box

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the US consumer and commercial credit and banking laws and regulations as well as of American Express commercial products and services, business plans, and technology
  • Self-starter with an ability to research, assess and determine impact of regulatory requirements to business systems, processes and initiatives and influence decisions accordingly, while providing compliant solutions to achieve business objectives
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to persuade and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an ability to think both tactically and strategically
  • Superior project management skills including ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt effectively to frequent change
  • Strong interpersonal skills / ability to develop relationships with colleagues across multiple business functions
  • Well-developed leadership skills aligned with the American Express leadership model, including demonstrated traits such as defining the agenda for winning, making enterprise thinking and collaboration essential, and doing it the right way
  • Compliance, audit, legal or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree desirable.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
  • Understanding of risk management functional areas and analytical disciplines, a plus
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., CRMC) desired, but not required

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
