The Risk Management Finance team is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and analysis of worldwide Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. RIM Finance provides credit-related decision support to Risk Management, Global Servicing Network, regional Finance teams, and the business teams on underwriting, customer management, and credit and collections activities.

This director-level position leads a three-person team supporting Worldwide Fraud Risk, Global Collections Expense, and Worldwide Recoveries. This finance team closely partners with both Risk Management and the Global Servicing Network to enhance understanding of the linkage between GSCN actions and credit provision.

This position will provide the candidate with broad exposure across AXP, including Chief Credit Officers, Finance LFO's and GSN leadership. As such, excellent communication skills are necessary to tailor complex messages to the appropriate audience.

Responsibilities
  • A leader within Global Consumer Risk Finance, driving key analytics and projections for credit, fraud, and collections.
  • Partner with RIM, Fraud, GSN, and Finance teams to gain a better understanding of strategic initiatives and drive key analytics that can be leveraged to inform business decisions.
  • Continue to build awareness of data / insights / portfolio trends across businesses and identify additional opportunities for analysis.
  • Lead team and assist where necessary in mining and analyzing data to identify credit risk and collections opportunities across portfolios to enhance AXP margins, either through revenue generation or expense reduction.
  • Provide thought leadership on projects across the Global Risk Finance organization to help AXP meet its long term growth targets.
  • Evaluate RIM and Collections projects that span multiple businesses and produce cost/benefit analysis to inform prior prioritization of investment dollars.
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge of the Credit Card Industry, AXP's competitive landscape and card economics is required.
  • Strong strategic thought leadership skills, curiosity, and influencing skills.
  • Solid financial and analytical skills; the ability to or desire to learn to work with large data sets and the ability to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Prior experience with the IDN/Cormerstone and other internal AXP data sources a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to communicate with all levels of management across the Finance, RIM, and GSN organizations.
  • Desire to work on ambiguous projects, creating clarity while driving successful and meaningful outcomes.
  • A strong work-ethic and robust interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to build relationships, develop others and demonstrate leadership both within finance team as well as with business partners.
  • Superior attention to detail, along with exemplary organizational and problem solving skills.
