The Role:

As a Senior Video Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for bringing new streaming media designs from concept, development and validation through to manufacturing advice. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups including Product Management, Product Design, Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Reliability and Operations, to drive key aspects of engineering of consumer electronics products. You will perform analysis and testing of complex video architecture using advanced simulation and experimentation tools and techniques. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of video codecs, SoC multi-media designs, and should comprehend the system implications of implementing complex video systems. In this role, you will:

  • Evaluate SoC fitness for multi-media designs
  • Analyze video and system performance and video quality
  • Architect system hardware that meets performance, quality, and compliance goals
  • Interact with cross functional engineering teams across the company
  • Dive into and take ownership for critical architecture and development issues
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Help build robust methodology and processes to deliver technology to products

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience as a hardware engineer
  • 2-5 years of experience in developing and delivering a video sub-system into consumer electronics products
  • 2-5 years of experience in developing SoC based video subsystems
  • 2-5 years of DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing) expertise
  • Strong understanding of video standards, including CODECS, CEA, and HDMI
  • Technical document writing using Visio, Word, Excel, and / or PowerPoint
  • Hardware lab equipment such as digital scope, logic analyzer, and soldering skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Familiarity with embedded software development and debugging: GNU/Linux device drivers, firmware, IDE (ex: Eclipse, Visual Studio)
  • Experience in SoC development of video sub-systems
  • Experience working as a Technical Lead
  • Revision control and document control
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
