The Role:

Concept Engineering is an innovation team inside of Lab126 which has created several successful innovations including the Amazon Dash Wand and the Amazon Dash Button. As an Entrepreneur in Residence within Concept Engineering, you will lead software and hardware engineers, and engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff, to conceive, design and ultimately create new disruptive consumer application solutions. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within a fast-paced, open collaborative peer environment. You will work closely with other internal teams. In this role, you will:


· Architect software and hardware systems to create compelling new customer experiences
· Bring up new platforms and technologies quickly in order to rapidly iterate concepts
· Be comfortable with both software and hardware design; deeply technical in one or both
· Be comfortable across a broad spectrum including RTOS firmware, Linux systems, and hardware-specific algorithm development
· Act as a technical expert and lead a project which will have a major impact across Amazon.com
· Provide technical leadership in evaluating, understanding and integrating diverse emerging technologies
· Prepare technical requirements, design specifications and other forms of architectural documentation


Basic Qualifications

  • Experience leading projects from concept to production
  • Experience handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience communicating with senior executives and non-technical leaders
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience, including a proven track record managing an innovation team and bringing significant innovations to market
  • Experience working with embedded platforms, including RTOS and Linux systems
  • Experience with cloud-based services

Preferred Qualifications
