Within the AWS Retail Solutions Architecture (SA) team we are building a cross-functional team of global technical leaders passionate about growing technology adoption of cloud computing by engaging directly with technical leaders, C-level executives and influencers at all levels across the industry. We are seeking individuals with retail (preferably GDC) business acumen, technical depth, c-suite engagement experience and communication skills needed to tackle the complex challenges our retail and GDC customers face as they bring their shopper engagement, insight and IT infrastructure current and future initiatives to the cloud. We are hiring highly passionate experts in Cloud computing, retail and GDC technologies to work with our Solution Architects and Industry Specialist teams on key customer and partner engagements.

You will possess a strong technical background that enables you to drive engagement activity and interact at the highest levels within our customer teams. You possess the presence and wherewithal to easily communicate the benefits of cloud computing to a variety of technical and business audiences. You also demonstrate the ability to be a visionary thinking both broadly and strategically about the needs of global businesses, and are deeply familiar with the complexities of legacy IT environments.

You will have detailed experience in GDC-oriented retail workloads, including Point-of-Sale, Digital Commerce, Category Management, Assortment Planning, Pricing and Promotion, Inventory and Supply Chain, Fuel/Forecourt Management, Forecasting and Analytics, and IoT systems. This experience will include knowledge of the commercial ISV solutions and vendors that support these workloads. Your strategic understanding of retail and GDC business drivers and the required industry technology ecosystem required to support them makes you stand out from your industry peers.

Role & Responsibilities:
• Engage directly with customers (CIO, CTO, Functional VPs, Directors, Chief Architects), providing technical credibility in the sales cycle. Develop long term executive relationships.
• Working with global retail and GDC customers you'll identify pain points and IT inefficiencies, and work with both AWS and Amazon resources to drive development of new solutions and/or services to support a broad array of customer use cases.
• Provide thought leadership on behalf of AWS to the retail industry and GDC segments by presenting at industry conferences, writing blog posts / white papers, and developing industry-oriented reference architectures.
• Use your deep industry knowledge to document use cases, personas, and strategic objectives for the industry. Work to align that knowledge with AWS service capabilities and Partner solutions and products.
• Work with AWS Industry Specialist teams to develop joint go-to-market strategies and targeted reference architectures. You will own the technical strategy for these retail segments within AWS.
• Lead a global community of Solution Architects that work with retailers in the GDC segments. Develop targeted training criteria for this community.

• Experience developing or architecting cloud based solutions.
• 8+ years in a technical leadership role.
• 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the grocery, chain drug, or convenience retail segments.
• Deep knowledge use cases and ISVs specific to GDC retail segment processes and business workflows.
• An understanding of global regulatory compliance programs that impact GDC industry segments (e.g. HAACP, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional and highly distributed teams that successfully deliver measureable results.


• Ability to read and write code in at least 1 language (e.g. Python, NodeJS, .NET, Java)
• Experience in complex Cloud development activities (examples including DevOps Pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Multi-Region Deployments).
• Distributed Internet-of-Things (IoT) experience, including device connectivity, management and orchestration, distributed data ingestion and aggregation, messaging protocols, etc. Helpful to have experience with edge-based RFID integration with on-premises gateways and Cloud connectivity.
• Machine Learning experience preferably within the areas of demand forecasting, customer personalization, fraud detection, customer engagement, and computer vision.
• Experience adopting or developing integration standards, for example Cloud Information Model (CIM), Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), or Cloud Events.
