Technical Program Manager, Traffic Quality

Advertising at Amazon is a fast-growing multi-billion dollar business that spans across desktop, mobile and connected devices; encompasses ads on Amazon and a vast network of hundreds of thousands of third party publishers; and extends across US, EU and an increasing number of international geographies. The Supply Quality team in Bangalore has the charter to build data-science focused products and platforms for indexing and modulating the quality of supply in Amazon Advertising. One of our key focus areas is Traffic Quality where we endeavour to identify non-human and invalid traffic within programmatic ad sources, and weed them out to ensure a high quality advertising marketplace. We do this by building machine learning and optimization algorithms that operate at scale, and leverage nuanced features about user, context, and creative engagement to determine the validity of traffic. The challenge is to stay one step ahead by investing in deep analytics and developing new algorithms that address emergent attack vectors in a structured and scalable fashion. We are committed to building a long-term traffic quality solution that encompasses all Amazon advertising channels and provides state-of-the-art traffic filtering that preserves advertiser trust and saves them hundreds of millions of dollars of wasted spend.
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will be excel at understanding requirements from customers, as well as anticipating future needs. You will be responsible for delivering results on large, complex business goals that require coordination across engineering and data science work streams. You are adept at delivering critical projects in aggressive timelines by making tradeoffs, balancing business needs versus technical constraints, anticipating bottlenecks and providing escalation management. Given the nature of advertising domain, you will need to dive deep into the business, engineering and data science aspects to ensure high quality deliverables as well as effective communication with stakeholders. You will review technical design and algorithmic consistency, and provide commentary on balancing short-term needs with long-term implications. You will also make data-driven decisions on a daily basis and drive communication to ensure stakeholders are aligned.
The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, with proven experience in leading medium to large products, preferably in the domain of web technologies. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, which is high on ambiguity and competing priorities. This means you will drive strategic initiatives as well as roll up your sleeves to get the job done. You will be data-driven and analytical with an in-depth understanding of business metrics. Finally, your verbal and written communication skills are excellent, and you are able to negotiate with stakeholders and inform/influence senior leadership.

• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
• 5+ years of technical program management experience
- Experience with big data, distributed algorithms and high-volume data processing
- Masters degree in computer science or related technical discipline
- Experience with implementing machine learning algorithms at scale
- Experience in Computational Advertising
