Principal Technical Program Manager

3+ months agoSeattle, WA

Consumer Electronics is one of the largest businesses at Amazon. We are a fast-growing, dynamic, high-impact, and fun category that includes Mobile Phones, TV/Blu-ray, camera/photo, musical instruments, home audio, headphones, and connected devices. Our marketplace is changing rapidly. It is still Day 1 here!

Mobile phones are amongst the most highly sought after CE devices and the most important product lines. Come help Amazon create and deploy cutting edge new technologies to help make Amazon the most trusted and preferred destination for smartphone shopping. As the principal TPM, you will drive the business and system-level reviews, align with engineering teams, make architectural decisions, and drive adoption of the critical mechanisms necessary to ensure the program's success. You will be expected to make appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, strong technical expertise and hands-on project management skills. They will have demonstrated experience leading large projects with cross-functional teams having shared goals not necessarily direct authority. You should thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and shouldn't be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities. As a Principal Leader you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. The right candidate will be adept at writing technical specifications, owning program schedules from design to release, partnering effectively with multiple technology teams within and outside of Amazon, and managing deliverables for critical milestones. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

In this role, you will wear many hats and possess a unique combination of strong technical skills and business acumen as well as a do-what-it-takes attitude. You don't just want to be part of an industry movement; you want to be out front leading it. If this sounds like you, we'd like to speak with you.
