Systems Engineer



The System Engineer - RMECC (Reliability Maintenance and Engineering Command Center team) position will be providing 24/7 remote technical support to the entire Amazon Customers Fulfillment network. It will act as the Primary Point of Contact during material handling systems high severity events (system breakdowns) and will lead the hardware, software and controls troubleshooting effort along with updating the Trouble Ticket dashboard, engaging appropriate internal/external support teams and will involve OEM/vendors as appropriate. This role will also own the root cause analysis effort working in close partnership with the Reliability team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years Material Handling Equipment's hardware, software, controls experience
  • A completed Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) from an accredited university or 2+ years Amazon experience
  • 4+ years Allen Bradley PLC programming experience using RSLogix 500/5000 and RSLinx experience with at least two full cycle of PLC ladder logic code design, development and testing
  • 4+ years Robotics, Conveyance, Sortation, Print and Apply, Vision/Scanning systems experience and ability to troubleshoot/solve related technical issues
  • 4+ years' experience of developing conveyor layouts and electrical schematics using AutoCAD
  • 2+ years' experience with PLC tag management and data import/export strategy using OPC
  • Experience with creating automated alarms, reports and KPI metrics for plant management
  • Experience with creating HMI for operational equipment configuration and settings
  • Experience with remote support of high severity incidents.
  • Ability to remotely support resolution effort of complex MHE issues
  • Must be able to coordinate conference calls assuming the role of Incident Commander by leading all the key resources in a collaborative resolution effort
  • Ability to lead, perform and complete After Action Review and Root Cause Analysis efforts related to MHE hardware/software/control systems breakdowns
  • Open and flexibile to work all shifts
  • Able to support an on-call based rotation schedule
  • Open to relocate to any North America Amazon site

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Rockwell A&B PLC processors, automation solution, FactoryTalk software suite (Metrics, View) and OPC technology
  • Working experience of developing operation equipment OEE tracking using ICONICS Gen32/64 framework
  • Working knowledge in control system interface design using OPC
  • Working experience using ICONICS Gen32 or Gen64 platforms
  • Experience of developing reports using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analytics/Reporting Services
  • Working experience using Dematic, Intelligrated, Hytrol MHE
  • Strong knowledge in project development methodology, clear verbal and written communication skills, has the ability to handle daily activities in a dynamic environment and drive deliverables
  • Ability to support dynamic Business Intelligence (BI) needs by summarizing and reporting key analytical findings
