Amazon AWS is looking for a Systems Engineer with strong Linux, networking and scripting/automation skills to join the EC2 Server Provisioning team. This team is responsible for the build automation of all EC2 virtual servers worldwide, is involved in the build out of new AWS regions, and is driving new innovative ways to deliver compute services to our Customers. We are looking for talented and innovative systems engineers who are passionate about working for the world's leading cloud provider, and building and solving problems at scale. Responsibilities will include significant hands-on systems improvements, automation, maintenance all at incredible scale. We are looking for systems engineers who value automation, diving deep into root cause and can work with other senior engineers and AWS service teams to improve service scalability and performance.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

• 2+ years of experience with Systems Engineering/Administration including experience in a distributed Linux based environment.
• Demonstrated experience in any of these languages: Java/Ruby/C/C++/C#/Python/Perl
• BS in Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with high scale systems.
• Experience with AWS services such as SQS, S3, DynamoDB, and Cloudwatch.
• Experience with Information Security.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Results-oriented, high energy, and self-motivated
• Experience with the administration of Linux servers, virtual machines and networks using automated configuration management tools.
• Demonstrated ability to automate manual tasks with scripts and other tools.
• Strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCPIP, Linux OS and Process Automation.
