Sr. UX Researcher

Description

The Marketplace Brand Central team is seeking a senior researcher to help us reinvent how Brand Owners do business on Amazon Marketplace. We need to complete the hiring of our core team by finding an experienced, dynamic Senior User Researcher. We need someone capable of establishing a research presence for our team and the broader organization as it evolves. This position is a part of the Marketplace Brand Central organization that creates, builds and leads innovation for brand owners on Amazon worldwide. Beginning with the establishment of an end-to-end research roadmap, you will work as part of our seasoned team to help us execute a strategic direction to benefit brand owners, resellers and customers. Our team needs an energetic, committed researcher willing to dive deep to understand the stories and needs of our entrepreneurial user base.

Specifically, we need a research team member who can:

  • Build a research practice for Brand Central
  • Execute on a prioritized research plan in a sensible, thoughtful manner
  • Create a proactive plan for generative research for future org needs
  • Manage research projects and resources, including vendors as needed
  • Undertake ethnographical research as needed to help develop our strategy
  • Plan, organize and manage usability studies as needed
  • Collaborate with Marketplace partners to disseminate findings
  • Work hand-in-hand with design, engineering and business to create compelling experiences
  • Present findings effectively in both written and verbal formats

Ideally, you possess:

  • An inherent love of startup businesses and a natural curiosity for how entrepreneurs go from a garage to an empire
  • Diverse research methodologies to address and help solve a variety of complex business problems – from usability testing to field studies
  • The ability to honestly discuss best practices to get our team the information, data and perspectives it needs
  • A willingness to jump in and recommend iterative improvements to the experiences we create
  • The ability to work with ambiguity, in a small team environment

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g. study plans, reports)
  • Full spectrum of experience with a variety of end-to-end research methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, and survey design
  • Experience testing on a variety of devices, including mobile and desktop
  • Exceptional behavioral data-collection and analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of quantitative data analysis and statistics
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences at various levels of an organization
  • BS or equivalent degree in human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology
  • Retail/E-commerce research experience in a global context.
  • Experience conducting research on mobile platforms
  • Eagerness to continually learn, grow and improve as a researcher
  • Desire to expand the reach and impact of research
  • Basic video editing skills (to create session highlight reels)
