Our team empowers experience makers, key partners/brands, entrepreneurs, and developers to leverage Alexa to create exciting, new, voice-first multimodal experiences and interactions, or Skills, across a variety of Alexa-enabled devices for their customers. This Seattle, WA, based role is a unique opportunity to work with a team of UX designers that share the future of Alexa.

You are a pragmatic designer and innovator that not only can translate business needs into customer-focused solutions, but also innovates and pitches new ideas to address customers' needs. You are a talented and experienced design leader with exceptional problem-solving abilities, clear communication skills, and solid design instincts who can translate business needs into design solutions. You are detail-oriented, comfortable working on complex UX challenged and workflows, skilled in using data to make decisions and able to handle multiple projects.

You lead by doing and have a passion for solving problems at massive scale. You excel through innovation, creativity, and attention to detail. You are a proven strategic thinker and collaborator who flourishes in a large organization. You sincerely believe that design is more than how something looks, but also how it feels and functions. You enjoy great design debates and thrive on iterating based on customer feedback.

We are looking for a leader who can:

• Collaborate and work cross-functionally with design, program, and engineering teams and develop the vision for innovative new solutions, solving some of our toughest challenges.

• Create the vision for developing, communicating, and implementing the user experience and associated UI framework and assets on a range of products; follow through with the processes and tactics to fulfill the vision

• Use various inputs to identify and define exciting new concepts, opportunities, and customer problems.

• Oversee close coordination with the product management team to develop a shared vision of a product and then lead a process to define the experience and design to deliver on the product's objectives

• Inspire, mentor, and lead a variety of designers on the User Experience team

• Leading cross-team conceptual development; being a strategic thought leader in how to implement unmatched experiences that represent the most customer-centric intersection between design, business, content, and technology

• Work strategically with other executives and team members across the organization.

• Demonstrating systems-level design thinking, delivering design solutions that scale


• 6+ years of design experience
• An available online portfolio
• 6+ years professional experience as an interactive designer / user experience designer; experience in human computer interaction.

• Bachelor's Degree in digital design, graphic design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.


• Professional experience with voice or multimodal speech interfaces.

• Desire for innovation, balanced with business needs, and customer expectations.

• Experience in data-driven analytics capabilities and an understanding of current speech and language technologies.

• Experience working across teams to synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, and marketing.

• Experience presenting to and influencing senior executive level management.

• Commitment to learning and expanding professional and technical knowledge.
