The unique responsibilities of this role
As the Sr TPM for Amazon Photos on Devices, you will help lead our collaboration between the Amazon Photos team and our colleagues in the Devices organization, inventing and delivering delightful Photos experiences on world-changing products like the Echo Show, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, and new products yet to be invented. You will work with our engineering, product and QA teams to make sure we are architecting, planning, and on track to deliver high quality customer experiences and high quality releases, making scalable long-term technical decisions while meeting our commitments. Your role will require coordinating and planning across multiple teams, finding technical solutions which span backend and client applications. You will identify gaps in our software development lifecycle and lead process improvements so we can deliver more to our customers and have fun doing it. In becoming the organization's expert on how we deliver products on Amazon Devices, you participate in Think Big processes and partner with the Product Management to identify opportunities to deliver customer experiences that customers love.

Who you are
You love inventing on behalf of customers and collaborating with creators of many disciplines to deliver experiences which are loved by millions of people. You are looking for a place to apply your technical and program management expertise, filling a critical role along side mission-driven engineering, QA, product, marketing and UX teams. You know how to improve the quality and speed of delivery by gathering high quality requirements, driving toward the right architectural outcomes, and by identifying, tracking and communicating the path to delivery within and across the organization. Always looking for ways for us to improve, you identify and create mechanisms which will help us raise the bar on the next release.

Your skills
As a Sr. TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance customer and business needs against technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Our team
The Amazon Photos Program & Product team is comprised of Technical Program Management, Product Management, and Program Management practitioners with experience ranging from 1 to 15 years in the field. Prior to joining this team, we have come from many disciplines, different sized companies, and at least 5 countries. We share a passion for solving the problems Amazon Photos solves for our customers, for learning to be better at our craft and for becoming a center of excellence in Product Management at Amazon.

What challenges / opportunities you will face
A winning photos experience can deliver joy to customers throughout the day: a walk through memory lane with "This Day" as you start your morning, a smile generated as you walk by an Echo Show or Fire TV or glance a beautiful family portrait printed on the wall; and, at the end of a refreshing weekend when you share the dozens of memories captured with grandparents far away and receive their heartfelt thanks.

However, while the opportunity to enrich people's lives is enormous, we are at a structural disadvantage to the two incumbents in our market-segment: both own/develop mobile operating systems where they've integrated their photos apps at levels we do not have access to and both have over a decade head-start building features and technology to create photos experiences.

The right candidate for this role loves to be the underdog, has an enduring belief that Amazon can build something important in this product category with the right amount of innovation and customer obsession, and relishes in this unique challenge and opportunity.
