Amazon

Sr Technical Program Manager (Ec2 Core)

3+ months agoArlington, VA

DESCRIPTION

We will hire for this role in either Herndon, VA or in Seattle, WA

Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a fast-growing business within AWS that provides customers with cost-effective and easy-to-use cloud computing resources to businesses of all sizes around the world. With AWS, you can requisition compute power, storage, databases, and many other services, paying as you go for only the resources you need.

Are you interested in working on products, and solving truly innovative problems that are disrupting the cloud-computing industry? Do you like working on products that are providing real value to AWS customers? If so, come join us as we help define the future of cloud computing.

We are the EC2 Audax Team. We're responsible for the T (burstable) instance families. We develop the software that ensures customer instances have access to the CPU cycles they need, when they need them, while minimizing the cost of wasted CPU capacity. As we improve the T instance types, we'll support more customer workloads, driving down costs and adding value for customers.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager in EC2 Core Platform organization, you will be responsible for collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, diving deep into EC2 architecture, operations, collaborating with architects and engineering leadership, and driving the teams to deliver results. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to- market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, leading cross-functional projects from design to launch, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies.

You will be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple priorities. You will be able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but also be willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done. In your role as TPM, you will design, anticipate technical and scheduling bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, sound judgment, strong negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

About Us:

Inclusive Team Culture:
Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon's culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Work/Life Balance:
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives. This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

Mentorship & Career Growth:
Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
