Sr. Software Development Manager

DESCRIPTION
AWS Applications bring the power of AWS to intuitive applications that use technology like machine learning and robust analytics to help our customers stay ahead of their changing business needs. Our growing portfolio of business applications leverage the power and scale of AWS services to remove the undifferentiated heavy lifting that business users go through daily. As part of our team, you will play a key role in defining and developing the next generation of applications that will be used by millions of people every day. This AWS offering has an immense green-field market to tap into, and has tremendous opportunity for growth.
We are building a new category of AWS Applications that will make customer-centric technology developed to support Amazon.com available to AWS customers. We will leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence and the large ecosystem of AWS services such as SageMaker, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon QuickSight to provide a truly frustration-free, easy-to-use, extensible, and natural customer experience. With this new category of services, we will transform business operations across industries. In our team you will have the unique opportunity to build an AWS service from the ground up. You will influence technical design and product direction and work across the stack from cloud-based services to web apps, collaborating with peer teams across Amazon.
Our team is growing quickly and we're looking for a seasoned Senior Software Development Manager, ideally with a decade or more of experience, to lead a team of engineers to drive design, architecture, and vision for our services. You will be responsible for managing an outstanding engineering team, making multi-year architectural decisions and lead R&D efforts to drive critical growth areas for the product. You will make data-driven decisions, prioritize and align roadmaps, and work with leadership across AWS to evangelize our products. You'll drive a culture that values operational excellence, security, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Senior Software Development Managers at Amazon are expected to quickly understand organizational and product goals while being able to map them to project deliverables. They must be able to divide tasks across a team and manage team execution. They are fully responsible for the day to day operations of the team and held to a high standard on the quality of product and the quality of ongoing support and maintenance provided to our customers. They must build effective teams, organizational structure and hire and develop the best talent to execute on their vision.
You will guide a diverse, smart, and hardworking team. We are parents, artists, adventurers, and athletes who enjoy time outside of the office. We've worked hard to create a trusting, collaborative, diverse, and supportive atmosphere. We're looking for a positive, enthusiastic, driven, and personable manager to continue this work environment and lead this team.
