Sr Product Manager - Technical
- Tepotzotlán, Mexico
DESCRIPTION
Every day, people around the world make new memories and every day people connect with each other and their history by reminiscing in memories past.
Amazon Photos' mission is to help our customers store, relive and share a lifetime of memories - and we do it by earning our customers' trust with a service that is relied on by millions of Prime members, inventing new experiences to surprise and delight our customers, and by integrating deeply with Amazon's other products like Alexa and Fire TV in order to make these memories shine in our customers' home.
We have been growing as a business and now we are growing as a team, looking to add a Sr PM to the Product Management team to work on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, & Search experiences.
Who you are
You love products and you love the art of product management. More than anything, you love inventing on behalf of customers. You are looking for a place to apply your experience as a human-focused inventor, to learn from a team of other product practitioners, and to be a part of others' professional journey as well. You love to learn by diving deep into both behaviors and tech, and you use this super power of dive deep to deliver results. Beyond a love of your discipline, you also love the idea of making products that help customers preserve, relive and share their photos and other memories.
Given this role is a more technical product role (aka "Product Manager - Technical"), you are also someone who has worked as an engineer or worked closely with an engineering team, contributing to technical and architectural decisions which impact the short, medium, and long-term success of your products.
The unique responsibilities of this role
As Amazon Photos' Lead PM for Computer Vision, & Machine Learning, and Search, you will work with a team of applied scientists, software engineers, as well as the broader product management and design community within Amazon Photos, and be responsible for the roadmap and strategy for how Amazon Photos will continue to deliver delightful and trust-earning customer experiences using computer vision and machine learning technologies. You will work with the Core Services team to make sure we are evolving our underlying services so we can rapidly deploy these innovations at scale.
Our team
The Amazon Photos Product team is comprised of Product Management practitioners with experience ranging from 1 to 15 years in the field. Prior to joining this team, we have come from many disciplines, different sized companies, and at least 5 countries. We share a passion for solving the problems Amazon Photos solves for our customers, for learning to be better at our craft and for becoming a center of excellence in Product Management at Amazon.
What challenges / opportunities you will face
A winning photos experience can deliver joy to customers throughout the day: a walk through memory lane with "This Day" as you start your morning, a smile generated as you walk by an Echo Show or Fire TV or glance a beautiful family portrait printed on the wall; and, at the end of a refreshing weekend when you share the dozens of memories captured with grandparents far away and receive their heartfelt thanks.
However, while the opportunity to enrich people's lives is enormous, we are at a structural disadvantage to the two incumbents in our market-segment: both own/develop mobile operating systems where they've integrated their photos apps at levels we do not have access to and both have over a decade head-start building features and technology to create photos experiences.
The right candidate for this role loves to be the underdog, has an enduring belief that Amazon can build something important in this product category with the right amount of innovation and customer obsession, and relishes in this unique challenge and opportunity.
In this specific role, you have the opportunity to lead not just Amazon Photos but also Amazon more broadly on how we might use Computer Vision and Machine learning to improve the customer experience and to earn our customers' trust.
