Sr. Product Manager, JP Books Supply Chain Mgmt

DESCRIPTION

JP Books Supply Chain and Operational Excellence team is looking for a talented, driven, highly analytical leader to define and drive large supply chain optimization initiatives scaling up business.

The Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for assessing our current supply chain systems, processes, and policies, subsequently working with multiple teams to design, develop, and deliver step change improvements aiming at increased supply chain performance at reduced cost. S(he) will drive strategic programs and design disruptive strategies with raising the experience bar for both our readers and publishers. Also s(he) will extend her/his vision to other Books teams across the globe.

We operate cross-functionally, partnering closely with WW Books, local Retail and the central Supply Chain Operations and Technology teams to deliver results. This is a highly visible position that includes interactions with senior leaders across Amazon in different regions. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently to identify and solve complex problems, quickly and accurately prioritize efforts, influence and drive consensus across the organization, and ultimately deliver meaningful change for the Books business and the broader organization.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Have end-to-end ownership of strategic supply chain initiatives from conceptualization and design through development and implementation, such as more flexible sourcing from distributors and publishers, Direct Fulfilment and the extension of inbound transportation services.
  • Think creatively and invent new areas of opportunity for supply chain optimization and cost reduction. This involves learning from other marketplaces, especially US and EU countries, to identify opportunities filling the gap between them and JP and assess what initiatives we really need to drive in JP.
  • Design long-term supply chain strategies to raise the bar for customers while reducing cost.
  • Be the central voice of JP Books to systems and operations leaders to champion supply chain initiatives across Books marketplaces.
  • Manage diverse stakeholder relationships to gain cross-functional support to deliver results across the supply chain.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, Operations/Supply Chain, Engineering or a related area
  • 7/8+ year experience in an analytically focused role in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment
  • Demonstrated ability of project/product management ability to plan, juggle multiple priorities, delegate tasks and make things happen (strong bias for action); Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills (includes ability to use tools); ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and feature concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including technical and business teams
  • Strong leader with structured verbal and written interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with and influence all levels across Amazon
  • Must be fluent in English - ability to lead conference calls, write up business review documents in English and make an influence on even senior leadership of the Books organization
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what's necessary
  • Ability to think and react in a high energy, fast paced environment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA preferred
  • Japanese language preferred, not required
  • Experience of working in publishing industry
