Sr. Food Scientist, Food Quality

DESCRIPTION
Do you have the passion for consumers and fresh, delicious food? We are looking for a Senior Food Scientist to join the Food Science and Technology Team focusing on food quality standards/testing and commercialization of ready to eat (RTE), ready to cook (RTC) and ready to heat (RTH) food.
As a Senior Food Scientist, this role will require an expertise in knowledge of food processing/commercialization, experience with creation of food quality standards and foundational knowledge of microbiological/analytical testing criteria for fresh prepared food.
The Senior Food Scientist primary responsibilities, competencies and characteristics:
• Must demonstrate competency in food formulation and processing across multiple food application categories, preference for experience with Fresh/RTE food.
• Creates and maintains quality standards for food ingredients and finished goods.
• Knowledge of food safety and quality microbiological testing protocol and ability to evaluate compliance to established standards.
• Familiarity with shelf life testing protocol and ability to grow/improve existing system.
• Must have experience in a production environment including scale-up from benchtop to commercial scale. Must have familiarity with multiple production technologies and the formulation challenges associated with each.
• Demonstrates project management skills to include stage gate processes, cross functional leadership and adherence and delivery to tight time lines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to include project summaries, technical updates as well as the ability to convey food science/technical information to non-technical partners.
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM systems) desired.
• Conducts test batches and leads Commercialization efforts in scale-up process
• Collaborates with cross functional team including marketing, packaging, food safety, legal and finance.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and adhere to fast time lines.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• B.S. in Food Science
• 7+ years' experience or a M.S. in Food Science with 5+ years' experience with a focus in Food Microbiology/Food Quality preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in food formulation and processing across multiple food application categories
• Knowledge of food safety and quality microbiological testing protocol and ability to evaluate compliance to established standards.
• Experience in a production environment including scale-up from benchtop to commercial scale.
• Familiarity with multiple production technologies and the formulation challenges associated with each.
