Video advertising is a rapidly growing and complex industry. Viewers are shifting from traditional TV viewing to OTT and web publishers are increasingly adding video content to their on-line experiences. We are at the forefront of this change and we are seeking a leader of our Delivery and Fulfillment Engineering teams to fundamentally rethink how we plan, deliver and report on advertiser campaign performance. We have a well-established advertising business, but video, and how our clients purchase video campaigns is different from our standard paradigm. This leader will define the technical vision and strategy, lead multiple engineering teams and help grow our infrastructure into a world-class video advertising solution for our customers so that we can effectively deliver against their goals.
Video advertising at Amazon is a two-sided marketplace with broadcasters-as-customers who look to Amazon's demand systems to fill their ad inventory and agencies and advertisers who use our systems to access that inventory. This marketplace creates unique challenges and opportunities for the leader of Delivery and Fulfillment to scale our business, grow our revenue potential and improve profitability. They will lead a team to update existing and build new infrastructure and drive alignment between our forecasting, ad serving and internal supply teams with our business and product strategy. .
Some problem spaces we'll be working on:
OPTIMIZING DELIVERY - Advertisers use a variety of 1P and 3P measurement for the success of their video campaigns. We are designing an building systems that leverage data science and machine learning to optimize delivery against those objectives and efficiently utilize our advertising inventory.
VIEWER EXPERIENCE: Millions of viewers tune into our ad-supported video content every day. You will work on systems to ensure that viewers get the best possible advertising experience by limiting repeating ads and improving relevance.
AD SELECTION & BIDDING: You will work on systems to submit the optimal bid for a winning ad candidate to an auction that meets their unique business requirements thru machine learning and data analysis.
As the senior technical leader on-site you will manage multiple teams, collaborate with product and impact strategy, partner with the teams across Amazon that drive our flywheel, work with customers to unpack their needs, and deliver software that delights users and the world talks about.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience, managing engineers and managers
• Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
• MS or PhD in a science or engineering discipline
• Hands-on experience with advertising technologies like Real-Time Bidding (RTB)
• Knowledge of ad tech entities like DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, Publishers and Advertisers
• Experience in connected TV device or mobile app development
• Self-directed, flexible, goal oriented and strong sense of ownership
• Strong verbal and written communications skills; experience presenting complex technical information succinctly to technical and non-technical audiences
