Amazon's Open Source Program Office (OSPO) is hiring an engineering manager. You will be responsible for the quality of the team's overall work along with assisting the individuals on the team to continually grow in their careers.
The OSPO is accountable for everything related to Amazon's consumption, usage, and distribution of open source software. We work closely with legal on licensing and compliance issues and we build the tools and processes that help engineers on different product and service teams to meet the requirements of the licenses in their open source code.
We also advise Amazon strategically, showing teaching teams how they can be more active contributors to some of the open source projects upon which they depend and assisting product managers and engineering managers in crafting their strategies and plans for the open-sourcing of new projects. We provide continuing services to our product and service team partners, helping them to evaluate the health of open source projects that they have started and helping them to define their success criteria and to measure how they are doing.
Amazon has been with Open Source for a long time a center for Perl development since the early days and a poster child for the use of Linux across the Enterprise in 2001 (when that was a shocking notion). Contributions have grown since 2007 and now we contribute to Kubernetes, Apache MXNet, Chromium, Boto, and Apache Hadoop related projects (Hive, Pig, Hadoop Core, HBase), plus many, many others. We also host our own Open Source projects recent examples are s2n, Firecracker, Corretto, and FreeRTOS.

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• 7+ years experience in software development and delivery
• 3+ years experience building, leading, managing, and mentoring high-performance engineering teams
• Experience building and delivering mission-critical, 24x7 production software systems
• Experience with Agile processes and cloud service development
• Experience with taking software products and services from inception to customer delivery
• Experience with product roadmap planning, prioritization with product management
• Experience with communicating complex topics to customers and business executives alike
• Past participation in open source communities
• Experience working with GitHub
