The Network Platform team responsible for the availability and lifecycle Management of AWS Networking platforms. We develop the Linux Operating system, Drivers, security components and telemetry for the network operating system running on these platforms. We are also responsible for the acquisition, processing of vast amounts of Networking Telemetry data from Amazon's global network and analyze them for failure analysis, future improvement and business intelligence. We are looking for a software leader to lead the Linux Operating System and Security of networking platforms.
The successful candidate is expected to be a technical manager who can deliver through a high performing Engineering team and who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development, deployment. operational life cycle including: design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. What will you be doing here?
• Work backwards from customer needs, build and track business metrics by which the team works to improve customer impact
• Plan, develop, deploy and maintain networking platform, deployment, operation tools and lifecycle management software for highly scaled networks
• Recruit, coach and mentor senior and junior software engineers
• Work with management, customers and adjacent development teams to build state of the art solutions, incorporate new technologies, and algorithms
• Set quality standards, build mechanisms and processes for team efficiency, continuously inventing and simplifying

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• A background in computer science fundamentals: a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of experience in building production software applications.
• 5+ years of managing teams building scalable production software.
• 5+ years management experience leading software development teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A solid understanding of Linux Operating System and driver development.
• Platform security.
• Experience in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
• Experience with networking protocols, topology design, network hardware and device configuration.
• Experience in mentoring software engineers to improve their skills and efficiency.
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.
• Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
• A strong customer orientation.
• Deep hands-on technical expertise; prior experience as a software developer or software development manager
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
